So, as of 5:30pm eastern time, I am sitting in gate 20 in terminal A, waiting for my flight to board. My mother and I left this morning at about 9:30am from Roanoke, drove two hours, stopped and I got a sausage mcmuffin, drove another hour or so, and stopped at the Skyline Drive to say goodbye to my dad. That is where his new full time job is. We took some pictures, talked, shivered, and said goodbye. We finished driving and parked in hourly parking in Dulles, I handed my keys to my mom, she came in with me, I checked in, we hung out, I ate a blueberry muffin.
Then I needed to go through security. I hugged my mom, we both cried a little bit, and just like that, I was alone. I got myself through security in about 15 minutes. What took the longest was the guy in front of me decided to block the little conveyor belt with our stuff coming out from the scanner because he wanted to put on his shoes.
I took this cool underground train to my terminal. Thus far, I’ve been hanging out at the terminal. I board in about 20 minutes.
I am flying from Dulles to Paris (8 hours?) and Paris to Málaga (2 hours). I arrive at 1pm tomorrow (their time). FOR REFERENCE: Spain is six hours ahead of eastern US time. I haven’t decided if I want to buy to inflight wifi. It’s 19€ for the whole flight.
When you have mild anxiety, every little thing that goes wrong is an insurmountable problem, even when it’s really not. So part of this trip, I have to keep reminding myself that everything is okay, and it’s not the end of the world.
Wish me luck. Next blog will be from Spain.

Also, someone is bringing a chihuahua on this flight?
